Milking machine testing and risk management

In each lactation, cows will spend somewhere between 50 and 100 hours with milking machines attached to their udders. Thus, the milking process and the milking machines have a huge opportunity to contribute to the spread of mastitis in a herd.

Regular testing and maintenance should be part of every herd manager’s risk management plan. Below you will find a number of newsletter grabs about the need for regular testing of milking machines, and the risks of not doing so.

Contents

  1. What’s the risk with old liners?

  2. How can we prevent milking machines spreading mastitis?

  3. They don't make liners like they used to.....

The grabs are also available in an MS Word file - without the images
